Maja Salvador recently appealed to her loyal supporters to stay positive and to ignore her detractors.

“To all my fans and supporters, thank you sa lahat ng pagtatanggol. Salamat po at na-appreciate ko 'yun (To all my fans and supporters, thank you to everyone who came to my defense. Thank you, I appreciate it),” she had written in a post on her Instagram account on August 12. “Pero mas pipiliin kong tahimik na lang po tayo sana at maging deadma sa mga bashers/haters. Positive na lang po tayo lagi. Yun ang i-share and spread natin sa lahat (But let's just rather stay quiet and ignore the bashers/haters. Let’s be positive all the time and share and spread that to everyone!)! Thank you so much!”

“Let’s choose to be the better person,” she concluded.

When Gerald was asked about his girlfriend’s controversial post, he said that though it’s normal for artists to have detractors, they should keep in mind that celebrities are people too.

“Hindi porke't parang artista lang kami, parang wala lang sa amin kapag may nagba-bash,” he was quoted as saying in an article on PEP.ph. “Siyempre, you know, may feelings din kami, tao rin kami. Siguro, umabot na rin siya sa point na ano, ganun (Just because we’re artists, it doesn’t mean that we aren’t affected by bashers. Of course, you know, we have feelings too, we’re human too. Maybe she has reached that point.).”

The press also asked about Gerald’s refusal to share more details about his romance with Maja, but the actor only said that his relationship is not open to everyone’s prying eyes.

“Siyempre, sa amin na po ‘yon,” he said. “Yung status po namin sa relationship namin, open po sa lahat. But 'yung sa relationship po mismo, it’s not open (Of course that’s just between the two of us. The status of our relationship is open to everyone. But as to what’s happening in our relationship, we'll keep that to ourselves.).”
