Julia and Gerald have long been rumored to be a couple, and now, in an interview with Boy Abunda, Gerald spills the tea with “It’s a yes.”
“Very happy,” Gerald says when asked if he was happy with Julia. “Very happy Tito Boy.”
Prior to that, however, he admits that he had a very rough time. “I’m controversial, I’m bashed because of my personal life, my love life. It’s something na parang—bakit ko naman i-she-share ‘yong intimate details about my life?”
Does he have problems with ending relationships? “I will never throw someone under the bus para lang linis ko ‘yong name ko… lalo na po ‘yong taong I’ve had intimate moments with," says the Init sa Magdamag star. "Lalo na itong last was… ang pangit, ang lala. At the end of the day, you don’t want to go to that level.
“The judgement has been passed. ‘Yong that point na pumotok… I’ve had my moments na parang, ‘Oh my god, paano ko nalagay ‘yong sarili ko sa ganitong… or, what did I do? I try to be a good person, pero bakit? I’m not gonna sit here and say na wala akong mali. I know. Pero… did we really have to take the social media route?”
It can be recalled that he and former girlfriend Bea Alonzo had a very tumultuous falling-out. The question of whether or not there was a formal break-up comes up, and Gerald replies: “I can remember that moment like kahapon lang siya nangyari,” reiterating that he doesn’t “have the guts to put someone in a bad light because gusto kong linisin ‘yong image ko, o ‘yong side ko.
“Ganito lang po ‘yon… Ano po ba ang definition ng ‘ghosting’? Kasi ang dating sa ‘kin is parang nasa gitna kami ng dinner and nag-decide akong mag-walk out and… hindi magpapakita kahit kalian. ‘Yon ba ang definition?
“Or is it walking away from a very unhealthy, toxic—not saying na siya ‘yong toxic, ako ‘yong toxic, but being together—we were very toxic. ‘Yong hindi nire-respect ‘yong explanation na binibigay mo, hindi tinatanggap… After months and months and months of being on the rocks… ‘Yon na lang I’ll just leave it at that. If ‘yon ‘yong ghosting, I’m guilty of one of those two.
“Wala po akong ghi-nost.”
