Rumors of Charice Pempengco’s suicide attempt started circulating when her maternal grandmother, Teresita Relucio, appeared on a TV5 entertainment talk show, reports PEP.ph.

In the interview, Teresita allegedly said, “Yun ang sinabi nila sa akin. Hindi kaya tanggapin ni Charice yung wala na siyang pera. Wala siyang pag-aari (That's what they told me. Charice couldn't take that she had no money or any property.).”

The pop star in question reportedly tried to stay positive despite the issue, turning only to Twitter to let out a bit of steam, but on December 10, ABS-CBN News online received Charice’s official statement from her manager Glenn Aldueza.

Nitong mga nakaraang araw, pinilit kong manahimik kaysa sagutin ang tanong ng ilan kung totoo nga bang nagtangka ako ng suicide dahil wala na akong pera (These past few days, I really tried to stay quiet rather than answer people's questions about whether I really attempted suicide because I no longer have any money.).

“Ngayon, pabubulaanan ko ang mga bintang (Now, I'm ready to clarify those accusations.).

Mahal ko po ang buhay ko, lalo pa nga't malaya ko nang naipapahayag ang totoong ako (I love my life, especially now that I am free to express the real me.).

“At mayroon pa rin po akong naitatagong pera (And I still have savings.).”

Charice is currently living with former X Factor contestant Alyssa Quijano in Laguna. She is not yet on speaking terms with her mother after she admitted to being gay, but hopes that they would one day reconcile.

Patuloy pa rin po akong nagtatrabaho dahil mahal ko ang pamilya ko (I continue to work because I love my family.).

Maaaring hindi maayos ang sitwasyon namin ngayon, pero umaasa po akong magiging okay kami sa nalalapit na panahon (Even though our situation has yet to be fixed, I remain hopeful that we'll be okay in the near future.).”
