Actress Claudine Barretto thinks that her relationship with estranged husband Raymart Santiago may be well beyond repair.
“Ang akin nga was, sinasabi ko nga e, habang kami ng mga anak ko e humahanap ng paraan para makatulong sa mga nasalanta, pa-interview pa rin sila nang pa-interview nang laging may pasaring. So parang, ang akin, tama na. Tama na kasi lalaki ka! Hindi maganda kasi may anak kang babae, tapos may anak ka ring lalaki. Sana, at siya naman siguro, hindi niya magugustuhan na matularan yun, (For me, while my kids and I are looking for ways to help [super typhoon Yolanda victims], they just keep on giving interviews and making snide remarks. So, for me, I've had enough, especially since you're a man. It doesn't look good because you have a daughter and a son. And I hope that they will not follow in his footsteps),” Claudine was quoted by PEP.ph as saying.
“Mahirap patawarin ang isang taong traydor. Mahirap patawarin ang isang tao na parang sinasabi mo, 'yung sleeping with the enemy (It's hard to forgive a traitor. It's hard to forgive someone when you're like, you're sleeping with the enemy),” the actress added.
Claudine maintains that she doesn't have any problems raising her kids on her own, implying that she has always shouldered all parenting responsibilities.
“Although meron namang tulong galing sa kanya, uhm, nagagawa naman niya kahit papa'no yung role niya, kahit papa'no, kahit konti, bilang ama noon. Pero sa pagkakatanda ko, lahat naman 'nun ako e, lahat naman nang kinaya ng ako lang. So, wala naman talagang pagbabago ngayon, it’s just more peaceful (Although he was able to help out, uhm, he was able to attend to his responsibilities, in a way, even a little, as a father, before. But from what I could remember, I did everything, and I was able to do everything on my own. So, nothing much has really changed, it' s just more peaceful now),” the actress said.
The couple made headlines early this year as Claudine confirmed that they are no longer living under one roof. This was followed by an ongoing legal battle, as the actress has filed for Temporary Protection order (TPO) and a separate lawsuit for Violence against Women and Children against her husband. In response, Raymart submitted a counter-affidavit to court, saying that he had suffered physical injury from his wife. The actor also said that he is thinking of filing for annulment in a separate interview.
