Claudine Barretto has filed a petition for a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) against her husband, Raymart Santiago, on July 29.

According to a report on DZMM.com.ph, Claudine, who was reported to be crying and trembling as she was filing her petition, is seeking to prevent Raymart from getting near the actress and their two children, Sabina and Santino.

While Claudine’s lawyer, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, declined to reveal the petition’s contents, he did hint that the actress and her children have been suffering for a long time.

“Matagal na pong nagtiis ang aking kliyente, 2005 pa po. She tried to make it work, ayaw niya sanang magreklamo at humantong sa ganitong aksyon, ngunit hindi na po niya kaya,” Atty. Topacio was quoted as saying. “Ito na lang po ang nakikita niyang paraan upang tumigil na po 'yung mga ginagawa po sa kanya at sa kanyang mga anak (My client has been suffering for a long time, since 2005. She tried to make it work. She didn’t want to complain and resort to this, but she can’t stand it anymore. She sees this as the only way to prevent what has been happening to her and her children.).”

Atty. Topacio also explained that his client has been “under intense and tremendous emotional stress” since Saturday. He likewise said that Raymart is armed, a detail that was mentioned in the TPO.

When Claudine was interviewed about the TPO, she said, “I just want to be protected and I want my children to be protected.”

She also asked the public to pray for her family.
