How did the romance between Angel Locsin and Neil Arce begin? In a vlog episode aired on October 16, the couple shared the progression of their relationship, and how each has learned to find middle ground when it came to their lifestyles and personal philosophies.

The two began as friends among a barkada of many which included Bubbles Paraiso, Paolo Paraiso, Chito Miranda, and many others. They were each other's go-to person when it came to love issues, with Angel at times acting as a romantic bridge and setting dates for Neil.
It took seven years before the the couple realized that they saw each other as more than just friends.
The couple admitted that there was an initial awkwardness during the first few days of their new-found closeness, but their friendship actually helped them become more open with each other, especially when discussing life-changing issues, which included their future plans.
On getting married and having kids
Angel admitted that the two of them had to compromise a few matters to make the relationship work. She knew from the very beginning that Neil initially didn't have marriage or having another kid after 13-year-old Joaquin Arce in mind.
"May anak na si Neil," said ni Angel. "Parang... ayaw niyang ikasal. Alam ko yun nung magkaibigan pa lang kami. Ayaw niyang ikasal, ayaw na niyang magkaanak uli."
According to Angel, the two sat down and discussed the matter, as Angel had always wanted to have her own family.
"So, kinausap ko siya, na parang... 'Inirerespeto ko yung desisyon mo, 'yong gusto mo sa buhay. Alam ko iyan bago pa ako pumasok sa ganitong situation. Pero papaano kung ako, gusto kong magkaanak, gusto kong mag-asawa? Kailangan mong respetuhin din yung desisyon ko.'
"So pinag-usapan namin kung papaano. Kung ano yung magwo-work para sa amin," kuwento ni Angel.
Wedding postponement
Angel and Neil became an official couple in February 2018. They announced their engagement on June 29, 2019.
The wedding was supposed to happen in November 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they decided to postpone it.
"It's going to be moved to early next year," said Neil in an interview with Metro.Style. "We were thinking, 'Should we do it small?' But that's not us, e. We're friends, we have a group of friends. We want everyone to be there. We want everyone to have fun."

In the same interview, Angel shared that Neil was more hands-on with the wedding preparations than she was.
"Actually, mas bridezilla siya. Ako kasi, 'Yes or no' lang. 'Okay o hindi.' Gan'on lang ako."
