Gym selfies have been bashed and defended time and again. Two separate studies have found that people who are fond of posting them are likely to have narcissistic tendencies, and that posting #fitselfies can actually hurt a man's chances of hitting it off with the ladies.

But on the flipside, we can also make the case for how gym selfies are a great way to record progress, and become social media-fueled motivators to get one's act together and stick to one's fitness regimen.

Look, we’re a fair bunch. We acknowledge both the good and the bad—and more importantly, we acknowledge that gym selfies aren’t going away anytime soon.
