The Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati has recommended the filing of a libel case against actress Sarah Lahbati regarding the controversial Twitter posts she made earlier this year about GMA Films President Atty. Annette Gozon-Abrogar, PEP.ph reports.

“The court has found probable cause on the crime of libel against Sarah Lahbati,” said Atty. Gozon-Abrogar’s lawyer Atty. Gener Asuncion during the June 1 episode of GMA talk show Startalk TX. “Ang piskalya ng Makati, nagkaroon ng imbestigasyon doon and then nakita ng piskalya na may probable cause ng libel (The Makati city fiscal's office conducted an investigation and they found that there is probable cause of libel.).”

Assistant City Prosecutor Torres Peña added that Sarah failed to present evidence proving that she made the tweets “in good faith.” According to Startalk TX, the Makati City Regional Trial Court has already released a warrant of arrest against the actress on May 20.

However, Atty. Asuncion said that the warrant is only enforceable within the Philippine territory, something that might be problematic since Sarah left for Switzerland without GMA-7’s permission shortly after the network executives made plans to sue her.

“Hangga’t wala pang arrest, hindi magkakaroon ng hearing o trial ng kaso na libel (There won’t be a hearing or trial of a libel case for as long as no arrest has been made),” Atty. Asuncion continued. “Advice for Sarah, to face the court and face the charges against her. Let her rebutt the accusation of Attorney Abrogar.”
