A week after her Brazil trip with boyfriend Daniel Matsunaga, actress Heart Evangelista, accompanied by her legal counsel, held a press conference to air her side on what really happened between her and Temptation Island co-star Marian Rivera, PEP.ph reports. According to Heart, she and Marian were getting along well on the Temptation Island set until Heart told Marian she was "excited" to work with Marian's boyfriend, Dingdong Dantes, in a GMA-7 TV project. Marian allegedly confronted her in her hotel room in Ilocos Norte, screamed at her, and told her, "Papatayin ka ng mga fans ko! (My fans will kill you!)"
The incident happened twice, prompting Heart to seek help from production staff. "Ang naging advice niya po sa akin is it's important na kausapin ko po ang magulang ko and sabihin ko rin kung ano ang nangyayari (The staff member advised me to tell my parents what happened)," she is quoted as saying. "Kasi in the future, in case baka po mabaliktad po ang sitwasyon (just in case the situation gets reversed in the future)—which is actually happening now."
As for her mom, Mrs. Ongpauco, reportedly yelling at Marian at the airport, Heart says no such confrontation happened. "Hindi po totoo na nagdala kami ng napakaraming pulis. It was airport security po," she is quoted as saying. "Actually, in-assist lang po ang mommy ko ng dalawang security dahil bawal na po kasi magsundo ng pasahero doon sa loob. (It's not true that we brought a lot of police. It was just airport security. The two of them were assisting my mom because people were no longer allowed to meet passengers in that area.)"
Heart also expressed her worries concerning the many death threats she was receiving from Marian's fans. "Siyempre tao lang po at natatakot po ako kasi may mga threats na bubuhusan daw ako ng asido, hinihintay daw nila ako, ganyan. (I'm just human, of course, and I'm afraid, because they've been threatening to throw acid at me. They say they're just waiting for me.)"
Atty. Archimedes Gonzalez, who is part of Heart's legal counsel, said his client had lost endorsement deals after the controversy erupted. "We're still studying the extent of the damages that our client has received because of the incident, and we're getting ready to file the appropriate cases if this doesn't get resolved [at] the soonest possible time," he is quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Marian's manager, Popoy Caritativo, relayed the actress's wish to stay silent in a text to PEP.ph. "Although it's hard for her to remain silent, she knows that there are times that peace is the better option. So she chooses peace. And she hopes that her supporters and fans would respect her decision. Marian sends them her love and gratitude. Thank you."
