“Lahat kasi ng naging anak niya babae (All his children are women),” she explains. “Bukod tanging ako lang ang babaeng may kakambal na ahas. Pero ang ibig sabihin kasi ng ahas dun sa unang panahon, mataas, malaki, matapang, magaling, so ako lang yun puwede. (I’m the only girl who has a snake for a twin. During those times, a snake meant you were excellent and brave, so I’m the only one [who can be the heir to the throne].”
From being a sheltered princess, Amaya must step up to the plate and become a fighter. “Ako ang prinsesa na ang tawag ay binukot at nilagay lang sa isang kubo at hindi pwedeng lumabas (I’m the privileged princess who can’t go out of her hut)," she is quoted as saying on PEP.ph. "Hindi pwedeng madumihan ang paa. Hanggang sa magiging alipin ako dito, hanggang sa maging warrior ako. Doon na magsisimula ang kwento ni Amaya. (My feet can’t get dirty. Then I’ll become a slave and eventually a warrior. That’s when Amaya’s story starts.)”
