There are no perfect weddings, but Maureen and Carlo prepared for two years in advance to ensure everything ran smoothly on their big day. With just their closest family and friends, Carlo and Maureen's vintage glam wedding--adorned with details in burgundy and champagne--proved to be a memorable affair for everyone. "It was perfect for us, and just the way we expected it to be," says Maureen.

Love Story
Maureen and Carlo's romance was quite unexpected for both of them. They started out as friends who were set to pursue careers in the legal field. As they were reviewing for the bar exams, they started to spend a lot of time with each other. "Little did we know that the big guy up there planned something really good for us," Maureen says. The two eventually decided to take their friendship further.
Later on, during one casual dinner date at Sofitel, the couple decided to go for a walk by the bay area of the hotel. As Maureen took pictures of the sunset, she spotted a reserved table. The table was set up for a romantic dinner for two, and a trio stood nearby, ready to play music. Little did she know that the special table was for them. As she turned around, she was surprised to see Carlo kneeling right in front of her, a ring in his hand. She hugged him, and without uttering an answer, wore the ring to say yes.

Wedding Preparations
Maureen and Carlo's wedding reflected their personalities perfectly. With details that highlighted their interests and professions, the couple made the wedding truly theirs.
The couple took on DIY projects to further personalize their wedding details. Their save-the-date reminders were among the notable projects, as these were made to look like real subpoenas. The announcements were written in legalese, printed on onion skin paper, placed in sealed brown envelopes and sent via registered mail. Guests definitely took notice, and the subpoena-style save-the-dates worked to the couple's advantage. Maureen shares that guests immediately confirmed their attendance.
While the couple's invites took a serious approach, the couple's wedding celebration was far from stiff and formal. Fireworks and the entourage's dance parade to the tune of Time Of My Life by the Black Eyed Peas kicked off the reception's fun atmosphere. The couple's host, RJ Ledesma, also kept guests laughing throughout the evening.
In the end, Maureen and Carlo got the wedding they've always wanted. "Do not be influenced by other people. Your mutual decision matters most," Maureen shares. She also tells couples to stop worrying on the big day. "Just enjoy--it's your day," she says.
