It's normal to have a love-hate relationship with your job, but sometimes, you reach a point where enough is enough. Can relate? If you're feeling burned out from your current job and have plans to switch career paths, here are some things to think about first.

Your career goals

Five O’Clock Club career and executive coach Anita Attridge says there are two important aspects to consider when you start thinking about a career change. "The first is to clearly understand what you want to do; the second is to understand what the marketplace will allow you to do," she says.
Before you make the transition, ask yourself just how realistic your dreams are and whether or not switching careers can live up to them.

Your training and education
Switching careers comes at a cost. Sometimes, it's in the form of further education. Are you willing to invest time and money to get proper training? If your answer is no, ask yourself what your end game really is. You don't want to keep jumping from one career to another forever!


Your new
work environment
This includes meeting new people, dealing with the work load, and acclimatizing to a new set of job hours. Ask yourself if you’re prepared to make adjustments.


An honest assessment
There's no shame in switching careers no matter how old you are. Tim Ferris, the bestselling author of The 4-Hour Workweek and The 4-Hour Body quit two amazing jobs in a matter of months, "I had no desire to do the work—I wasn’t interested in what I was doing anymore—and I’d burned myself out." Before you hand in your resignation paper, however, ask yourself these questions. Will it make you a better person? Will it make you happier? Can you handle the change? You may not be 100 percent sure of where your decision will take you, but you have to be at least certain that you want to take the plunge.
