If there’s one thing scarier than your boss at work, it’s the paranormal. Our GIRLTalkers are no strangers to things that go bump in the night. Here are just some of their own office horror stories!
1. mommynin8 on Have you experienced working overtime at the office?
"And there was one time that while I was working, I saw a 'lady' looking at when I was typing away at my computer (my office has floor-to-ceiling glass windows right behind my chair so my computer monitor 'faces' the glass windows and I was on the 18th floor that time). Her 'face' was reflected on my computer monitor, so when I saw her I looked back and yep, she was there, floating (I was on the 18th floor then, and she was just outside my window!!!). I just said, 'hay sige mangawit ka diyan (I just said, go ahead and tire yourself out.).' I needed to complete my performance reviews pa. I didn't feel fear then, kasi siguro nga I was bent on finishing what I was doing. A few days after, I realized that she could be lurking somewhere else in our office, that I was afraid to go to my washroom right inside my office hehehe...."

Tapos biglang nasabi nung friend niya, 'uy diba ikaw 'yun?'
(I just want to share my sister-in-law’s [SIL] experience when she was in the office rest room with her close friend and co-worker. Normally, when you’re facing the mirror, you’d see a reflection of the cubicles, right? At that time, she and her friend were the only ones inside. They were talking while retouching, when SIL suddenly saw herself peeking out from the cubicle door (basically, it looked like she was inside the cubicle). She found it bizarre because there she was standing in front of the mirror. They didn’t see each other eye-to-eye and the doppleganger eventually left the restroom. After that, her friend said, ‘Hey, wasn’t that you just now?’ The doppleganger had copied everything--even the outfit that she was wearing then. Isn’t it a bad sign to meet your doppleganger? After that, my SIL had a fever for a week."

They fondly call her Manang/Lola.
The other day, night shift ako. 11pm-7am. I am a huge water drinker so around 2:30-3am, I went to the nurse's quarters to refill my tumbler.
Get a refill.
Paglabas ko ng room, as in pagtapak na pagtapak ng isang paa ko sa hallway, biglang nag-on 'yung ilaw! Eh diba nga, gusto kong buksan 'yung ilaw? Ayan, binuksan niya. Nyay! In response to that, I loudly said 'Thank you po" then off I walked very very fast towards my co-nurses.
Tapos kagabi lang, I was stationed in the recovery room. RR was located just beside the fire exit and far far away from the rest of the world. LOL! Basta, malayo siya sa ibang division ng area at ako lang ang tao dun, (well of course bukod sa patients kong bangag pa sa anesthetic). Nakaupo ako noon at nagsusulat ng nurse's notes. Nakaharap ako sa pinto ng RR. Then after a few moments, I saw a black form walk in the hallway coming from the fire exit. Ok, thank you po ulit, sinasamahan niyo ako.
(In our area, there is supposedly an old lady who always goes around. They fondly call her Manang/Lola. The other day, I was scheduled for the night shift. 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. I frequently drink water, so around 2:30 A.M. to 3:00 A.M., I went to the nurse’s quarters to refill my tumbler. Our area is normally brightly lit, but when I turned the corner to the hallway, I saw that the lights were switched off. I didn’t get scared immediately because someone could've just turned the lights off since it was already past midnight and not a lot of people visit the area during those times.
I looked for the switch, and talking aloud, I said, “Where’s the switch?” Of course, I didn’t find it. Since I wasn’t afraid and I was in a hurry, I went straight to the quarters and did what I was supposed to do: get a refill.
When I left the room, as soon as my foot stepped on the hallway, the lights flickered on! I wanted the lights on, didn’t I? There, she opened it. Nyay! In response, I loudly said. “Thank you, po” then walked very fast toward my co-nurses.
Then just last night, I was stationed in the recovery room [RR]. RR was located just beside the fire exit and far away from the rest of the world. LOL! It was far from the other divisions of the area, and I was the only person there [well, of course, besides the patients who were knocked out from anesthesia]. I was sitting down and writing my nurse’s notes, facing the door of the RR. Then after a few moments, I saw a black form walk in the hallway coming from the fire exit. Okay, thank you again for hanging out with me.
There are many more stories in our area. There are eerie spots that even the manongs wouldn’t go to unless they had to retrieve equipment, rooms that are avoided, etc.)

Nasa 16th floor kami, west tower nasa PM shift ako nun 11PM out namin...
(I always feel something in our office at [building name].
We’re on the 16th floor, west tower. I was doing the PM shift then and our out was at 11:00 P.M. At around 10:00 P.M., my friend and I decided to go down to smoke. It’s something we usually do. We were just talking to each other while waiting for the elevator when suddenly, we heard a child scream… It was weird because we were the only remaining tenants open at that time on the 16th floor. We were so scared that we decided not to go through with our plan.)
