Many successful businesses stem from simple hobbies, and Marie Joy Ann Chua’s quilling venture is no different. Also known as The Quillist, Joy Ann has been into arts and crafts ever since she could read, but it was only when she stumbled upon a quilling kit in a craft store that she realized just how far her hobby could take her. She began experimenting with paper filigree and soon had all sorts of clients knocking on her door.

"People who love and buy my work are often irresistibly drawn [to] the way I present ordinary things into personal, intricate, and colorful concepts," says Joy Ann. "I’ve had business owners and managers call on my work to present their product in an eye-catching and unique way, engaged couples who want something beautiful and different for their wedding, and people who want to give their friends a customized yet fun gift for their birthday.
