The creative industry, often given a bad rap as mere passion projects, is finally gaining the momentum it deserves.

The latest report of Freelancer.com revealed that half of the top 10 fastest growing jobs on the crowdsourcing marketplace are from the creative industry, with photography jobs taking the top spot as it grew 23 percent from the previous quarter.

Video editing (third place), branding (fifth place) and photo editing (eight place) are also on the list, which Freelancer noted as small businesses’ gradual acceptance for the need of great visuals in today’s competitive digital age.

“Freelancer.com has been empowering small businesses since our inception… Looking forward, the trend of creative jobs continuing to rise will provide even more choice and flexibility to the types of work our Freelancers will enjoy,” Matt Barrie, chief executive of Freelancer.com said.

The last quarter also saw the demand for skills and jobs that can better and ease business processes as virtual assistant, blog install, Amazon Web Services and Google Adwords jobs ranked fifth, sixth, ninth and tenth, respectively.

Following Brexit, the rise for German language jobs was also seen with a 22 percent increase from the previous quarter. Experts say many businesses in the United Kingdom are now thinking of moving their headquarters to Berlin instead.

Interestingly, Freelancer.com noted the drop of data-related jobs with the steady rise of creative jobs. algorithms (-42 percent), statistics (-40 percent), mathematics (-37 percent) and computer security (-37 percent) took large falls when compared to the previous quarter. Still, projects related to such subjects continue to be the most needed in the platform.

Freelancer.com based the ranking from the 440,718 jobs posted in the platform during the third quarter.
