In a new episode of #DimpsTips, Dimples Romana invites Julia Montes—who she adoringly calls Jules or bebe—to talk about their experiences with adulting while they feast on street food they cooked themselves!
As we all know, Julia's been working in the industry for years now, but what most of you probably aren't aware of is that she's her family's breadwinner. Julia told Dimples, "Ever since ate, seryoso talaga ako. Recently nga lang ako naging fun. Kasi siguro natuto na ako na i-enjoy 'yong life. Open kasi talaga si lola, e. Before, sinasabi niya sa'kin, 'Kapag 'di mo 'to ginawa, wala tayong ganito. Pambayad natin 'to sa ganito.'"
And because she started earning at a young age, she quickly learned the value of money: "Alam ko lagi na 'tong sinasabi 'pag nagtratrabaho na isang tao. Or 'pag bata sinasabi, 'Nako, 'pag lumaki ka, 'pag nagtrabaho ka na, maiintindihan mo kami.' Pero totoo siya, e. Minsan, kahit alam mo na 'yon, nakakalimutan mo pa rin yung worth ng money, e, kasi nae-excite ka. Pero yung totoong meaning ng money, especially now [na] pandemic, lalo mong pinahahalagahan."
Julia knows she's blessed to have all the opportunities she's given, which is why to her, every centavo, every peso counts. The actress shared, "Alam ko na every time may kikitain kami, may paglalaanan na. So every time na may papasok na pera, saan siya nakalaan?"
When asked what she treated herself with after she started earning money from work, Julia revealed that scents are her luho. And it's because she's wanted them—specifically a cologne called Young's—ever since she was in grade school: "Amoy baby powder siya. Tapos tinitipid ko yung maliit na 'yon. P20. Yung yellow yung binibili ko." During a mall tour with Kathryn Bernardo years ago, she saw it at a department store and bought three to four bottles! Aww!
