There are office sweethearts and then there are co-workers who are nearly impossible to deal with. Instead of wallowing on why you had to be teamed up with problematic people, focus on getting the job done–while keeping your sanity intact.
Don’t get too involved.
You don’t have to be friends with everyone, but do remember to be polite and courteous at all times. Try to maintain a certain level of professionalism and keep your distance from co-workers who exude a negative vibe.
Be as understanding as possible.
Do you have an officemate who always seems to be mad at the whole world? Before judging her for being an emotional wreck, look beyond her actions and try to understand what's really going on.
Take it as a chance to learn something.
A lot of things can happen inside the office–drama, office politics, and misunderstandings. Instead of dwelling in the negativity, consider each of them as a learning opportunity. Being partnered with a tough officemate can teach you patience, forgiveness, and even tolerance.
Keep everything professional. If you have to work with a difficult colleague, focus on the tasks that need to be done and avoid unnecessary drama. If there’s a particular issue that needs to be resolved, deal with it in private or outside of the workplace.
