The great thing about each new year is that we all get a clean slate, a second chance at reviving our finances. Thanks to our 13th-month pay and our year-end bonuses, most of us were able to, hopefully, end the year debt-free. Unfortunately, having paid off our credit card bills is not tantamount to financial stability.

The truth of the matter is, we’re not getting any younger. With each turn of the calendar, our time to save, invest, and secure our future becomes shorter and shorter. If it’s not something we think about when we’re in our 20s having a blast, it’s definitely not something we want to worry about when we’re in our 30s with nary a cent to our name.

So, how do we achieve financial stability? How do we build our nest eggs? Well, as a Chinese proverb says, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” In this case, however, FN says, “The journey to P100,000 begins with a single step.” You read right, FN ladies! This year, let’s make it our personal goal to set aside at least P100,000 by the end of 2013. We may have different capacities, salaries and stations in life, but becoming financially independent is still a goal that is worth striving for.

Scroll through the gallery to get 12 money-saving strategies for each month of the year that may help you increase your bank balance slowly but surely. And to show our support, yours truly will also take on the challenge of saving at least P100,000 by the end of the year. Whether it’s a goal I could actually meet still remains to be seen, but I suggest you bookmark this article so you can follow my progress month after month through the FN Resolution Tracker.

Frankly, I don’t think it’ll be easy, but then again, nothing ever worth doing is. Good luck to all you ladies, and, well, good luck to me!

Note: Adjust these tips as you see fit. Let us know how you use the FN Resolution Tracker to make your way to P100,000 by the end of the tear!
