To help get you started, Facebook has an ongoing campaign called #SheMeansBusiness. It started in the Philippines in 2017, and has already done workshops in over 10 cities. Partnering with #ConnectedWomen, a movement and a community of Pinays supporting each other towards entrepreneurial success, it has already helped women from different provinces get their businesses online.

One success story is Daisy Catague Cababasay, chef and owner of Takuri Café in Iloilo, who never thought that the garden space she converted into a little resto serving Asian fusion cuisine would be a much talked-about destination in her locale.

Parang minsan sa akin joke-joke lang po ‘yon,” Daisy said about her business during a recent 'Open Doors' event in Facebook's Philippine HQ. “Gusto ko lang kumain ng laksa at saka ‘yong satay… Tapos ginawan ako ng anak ko ng Facebook Page. So doon nag-start, kasi na-realize ko na lang later na...dati sa generation ko, bago kumain, magdadasal. Ngayon, hindi pala, pi-picture-an muna ‘yong pagkain tapos ipo-post sa Facebook,” she laughed.

“I take pictures before I deliver [the food] to the customers. So ‘pag nakita mo siya, hindi siya fino-photoshoot… ‘Pag nakita sa Facebook—actually, ‘yong picture, ‘yon din ang makikita mo kapag kakain ka na.”

Daisy attended the #SheMeansBusiness and #ConnectedWomen collaboration held in Zamboanga, wherein participants from all walks of life were given a full day of lessons in online marketing, advertising, and how to be a smart, ethical, and confident business-minded Pinay.
