Beep cards are very handy since aside from storing your train and bus pamasahe, you can also use it to see movies at Robinson's Movie World or by snacks at your nearest Wendy's, Family Mart, and Circle K branches. The only hassle is loading it up with credit.
The good news is that you can now use your phone to put cash in your beep card on the fly. AF Payments, the group behind the beep card, has partnered with Coins.ph to allows users to load via mobile.
Using a new feature in the Coins.ph mobile app, beep cardholders can tap their cards on any Android smartphone with near-field communication (NFC) enabled to reload. This will transfer funds from the Coins.ph wallet to the beep card within seconds, and topping up can range from P10 to P10,000 per transaction.
Topping up through the Coins.ph app has no transaction fees and a Coins.ph wallet can reload several beep cards across various transactions. Cardholders can also check how much load is in their beep cards through this method.
Coins.ph’s new beep card top-up aims to make financial services more accessible by allowing its users to skip tedious processes such as lining up to pay bills, withdraw funds or top-up cards. According to its website, its services have “saved Filipinos more than 68.9 decades of standing in line since 2014.”
“Each day, nearly two million Filipinos are forced to wait in long lines to top up their beep cards with cash,” said Ron Hose, CEO of Coins.ph, in a statement. “With this collaboration, beep cardholders can seamlessly use Coins.ph to load their cards with their phones and make payments anywhere beep is accepted.”
