Choosing colors for the wedding is one of the first tasks that couples tackle as they plan their wedding, since the color palette sets the overall mood, theme, and look of an event. Pastels, jewel tones, neutrals, or even neon colors, can all be used to make up a wedding color palette. With the slew of possible color combinations, we asked Ernest Pascual of Bespoke Manila to share tips on coming up with a complete and cohesive color palette.
Go for contrasting colors.
One way to make your wedding colors pop is to feature contrasting colors. To come up with a pair, choose a particular color first that both of you like, and then consult a color wheel to see what colors lies opposite your first pick. For this palette to work, use one color in most of the details, and use the other sparingly.
Play with different shades of the same color.
Another option for a wedding color palette is a monochromatic scheme. Working with different shades of the same color allows you to incorporate texture into as your wedding elements without making the palette look overwhelming.
Choose neutrals.
Neutral colors, such as white, gray, and brown, are easy on the eyes, and can be paired with almost any color. For Ernest, among the popular colors now are neutrals, such as taupe, tan, camel, and cream. "A pop of peach and pistachio green would match well with these neutral shades," he adds. Moreover, if you're considering a palette of bold colors, remember to include at least one neutral to balance out the rest of the bright shades.
Pick colors in the same family.
If you have your heart set on a palette that features more than three colors, make sure that your picks all belong to the same family. An easy way to select several colors that go together is to check a color wheel, and choose colors that lie side by side. This way, you'll have colorful details, but everything will still be cohesive.
