Traveling is a good way to get you out of your comfort zone, but that doesn't mean you should throw caution to the wind when you go out to see the sights. Check out our tips below for safe and secure travels.


BEFORE LEAVING FOR YOUR TRIP:

1. SECURE THE HOUSE.

Make sure all electronic appliances are turned off and unplugged if no one will stay home to watch the house.

2. ASK A TRUSTED NEIGHBOR TO CHECK ON THE HOUSE FROM TIME TO TIME.


Leave a copy of your itinerary and contact numbers with him/her so s/he can immediately alert you of any emergencies.


WHILE IN TRANSIT:

1. CHOOSE SAFE SPOTS.

While licensed modes of public transportation are generally reliable, there's no harm in choosing the safest spots to sit on: seats near the emergency exits for planes, and the rear for buses and trains.

2. STAY ALERT.

As you travel, don't make it obvious that you're a tourist--people might take advantage of you and the situation.
