While some couples break up over cheating or a looming ex-lover, there are others who head towards splitsville for surprising reasons. Here are some of them.

You two are always together.
Although this may seem like a good thing, spending time with each other all the time can put a strain on your relationship. Every person needs their personal space. This helps lessen little annoyances that can eventually build up over time. It’s important that a couple spend their alone time separately so they won't depend on each other too much.

One of you doesn’t put in too much effort.
This is the opposite of the first. This is when you give your partner too much freedom to the point that people start to wonder if you two are even a couple. Before you know it, you two have somehow drifted apart.

You two exchange text messages all the time.
While some see this as a way to keep communication lines open, a 2013 study showed that too much texting can cause conflict and disconnection among couples–especially if you’re texting your partner to resolve an issue. "Reaction to disappointment and reality testing occurs more quickly face to face. There is a narrowness with texting and you don't get to see the breadth of a person that you need to see," says Jonathan Sandberg, one of the authors of the study. Talk to your partner in person instead of making up through text messages.

Social media
