The dating game may have changed over the years–Tinder dates and casual hangouts have become the norm–but there are times when we still yearn for old-school dating etiquette. Here, five dating habits we want back.

Dressing well for a date
There's nothing wrong with relying on the old t-shirt-and-jeans combo–not all dates are meant to be fancy–but dressing up for a date means you put in time and effort to look good. We know you clean up nicely, so why don't you prove us right?

Actually asking us out
Is it a date or are we just hanging out? That's the million-dollar question. Whether it's because of fear of rejection or a playing-it-safe strategy, some guys prefer to hang out instead of mustering up the courage to ask us out, which leaves us confused if we're on an official date or not.
Picking us up right at our doorstep
People are used to "meeting up" for dates, but once in a while, it's nice to be picked up from the house, too. Besides, we've always wanted to have a She's All That Laney Boggs moment. Cue Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me."

Engaging us in an actual conversation
Instead of fiddling with your phone to update Facebook or Instagram, why not try looking at us in the eye and actually holding a conversation? Our tip: Find our what our interests are, so that you won't have a hard time breaking the ice. A few well-timed compliments won't hurt either.

Writing love letters
Thanks to smartphones and computers, people would rather text or email their S.O. instead of writing sweet, love notes. However, there's something more personal about hand-written letters that sends us, well, just the right message.
