1Unlike other necklaces we’ve seen on Refinery29, this particular sleek, shiny piece is different from the usual neck caadies we’ve seen featured on the site before. Its maker, Crave, sells it as "the world's first luxurious rechargeable vibrator necklace." Called The Vesper, the minimalist design of the sex toy is credited to former industrial designer Ti Chang who used to design tables. Things changed when she observed that the sex toys available for women looked cheesy. She explains, “It’s always been my vision as a designer to make people feel comfortable with something [seen as] taboo," she says. "When you have parts that look good, not like a big old Rabbit...it makes sex toys easier to digest."

While Chang has nothing against the silicone pleasure toys currently available, she emphasizes that her company focuses on aesthetic as highly as pleasure. The elegantly designed vibrator has a three-speed clitoral stimulation and vibrates in ‘whisper-quiet’ sounds. Plus, the stainless steel design provides a more sanitary experience. "You wash it and it's good," tells Chang. "It can't harbor bacteria." It recharges via USB.

She admits that the stylish toy is not for everyone. “Some women really like it just because it’s a cool-looking necklace; some really would wear it as a symbol of empowerment; some women would just keep it at home as a vibrator," she reveals. The Vesper is available for pre-order (as of writing, there are over 1,000 pre-orders) and will be ready for shipment by September. It’s available in three metallic finishes: silver-plated, rose-gold-plated, and 24K-gold-plated.
