Whoever says that breakups are easy have obviously never experienced it. Once the relationship is done, it’ll be a whirlwind of emotions and you can’t help but overthink the things that you could have done to make everything better.

But, obsessing over a breakup won’t do you any good. Psychotherapist Mary Darling Montero, LCSW says that distracting yourself is crucial when you’ve just gotten out of a relationship. And aside from that, you should also deal with it in a way that will lead your heart to heal.

“The key is striking a balance between proactively dealing with them and distracting yourself from them. The first is necessary because if you don’t deal with the breakup of your relationship or marriage, it will likely find a home in the back of your mind and sit, stubbornly festering away.”

Stop worrying about the things you can’t control. Excessive worrying is not only mentally exhausting, but it could also affect your physical well-being – it can affect your daily life and interfere with your appetite, your (non-romantic) relationships, and your lifestyle in general.

Just let go of the “what-ifs” and focus on how to pick yourself up from the rut. Some women tend to hold on to the past because they’re looking for closure, but sometimes, you don’t really need the closure.

There may a lot of reasons why he suddenly ghosted you; he may have someone else, or he’s probably still hung up on his ex
– either way, it could only mean that he’s not the one you’ll spend the rest of your life with and the best is yet to come. So, don’t lose hope and just keep on living life to the fullest.
