A recent spread in the French version of Vogue magazine has grabbed the attention of people all over the world. The esteemed magazine is known for editorials that feature beautiful designs from the most prestigious names in fashion. This time, however, people aren't talking about the clothes, but the model wearing them. This is because, in the January issue of the magazine, a 10-year-old girl is shown sporting looks meant for women much older.Thylane Blondeau is the child model in the middle of all the controversy. In the photos she is shown in various poses, all wearing makeup, clothes, and facial expressions we usually see on models years older than she is.
Comments on an article on TIME.com say that sexualizing such a young girl is wrong and that doing this takes away from the whole experience of childhood. They say that this is an example of parents who allow their child to play dress up and take it too far. But we all know of parents who think it's cute to have their little girls dress up in short skirts, backless tops, and makeup. Is this a case of kids just playing dress up or should it be taken seriously?
