People engage in extra-marital affairs for different reasons, but according to a study published in the American Sociological Review, your man is 15 percent more likely to cheat when he is financially dependent on you.

"You would think that people would not want to ‘bite the hand that feeds them’ so to speak, but that is not what my research shows. Instead, the findings indicate people like feeling relatively equal in their relationships. People don’t like to feel dependent on another person," says study author Christin Munsch.

The same study also shows that men who earn 70 percent or more of the household income are more likely to stray, reports TIME.com. "These men are aware that their wives are truly dependent and may think that, as a result, their wives will not leave them even if they cheat," Munsch explains.
