Trust is essential in any relationship–and while it’s true that there are things you can keep to yourself, there are also issues you need to discuss with your partner. Don’t hold back on the things you want him to know because sharing them can strengthen the bond the two of you have. Telling your partner something not everyone knows creates a deeper and more intimate union.

Whether that’s emotional cheating or online cheating, they have the right know since trust is necessary to have a healthy relationship. It’s also important to have the right motivation–are you confessing your dirty deeds just because you feel guilty?

Matt Garrett of Relationships Australia says keeping certain things from your significant other could raise yellow flags, but he also adds you shouldn’t reveal everything about yourself. “If it's something that implicates your partner in some way, withholding that information should be thought about carefully.”

Past secrets.
Before getting in a new relationship or getting hitched, work out the “skeletons in your closet”. It’ll be better to come clean so you won’t have to worry about your partner knowing your darkest secrets from other people–which can be the cause of arguments.

Money issues.
You should be honest and open with your partner if ever you have money issues such as debts and creditors running after you. Emmet Burns, brand marketing director for SunTrust says, “Money really touches everything. It impacts people's lives”–and it can cause major fights between couples.

A study made by the American Psychological Association found that “almost three-quarters of Americans are experiencing financial stress at least some of the time, and nearly a quarter of us are feeling extreme financial stress,” and it could happen to Filipinos as well. Brad Klontz, a psychologist, certified financial planner and associate professor at Kansas State University suggests you talk about it as a couple and look for ways to compromise to get what both of you want.

Health-related concerns.
No matter what disease or struggles you’re going through, you have your partner to lean on. When you’re in a relationship, you should be there for each other through thick and thin; good and bad. As much as you want to keep health-related topics to yourself so as not to worry your man, having someone who will help you get through it is one of the most beautiful things when it comes to love. Seek support from him and be open about it.
