Whether it’s a good breakup or a (really) bad one, getting over someone who dumped you may cause your emotions to go downward spiral. Here are the most common phases every person goes through after heading to Splitsville:

1. Shock and Disbelief
Unless there were already red flags that indicated a possible breakup, it’s normal to be dumbfounded right after it happens.

2. Crazy, Little Party Girl
You have this urge to go out with your best girl friends to distact yourself from the heartbreaking thoughts. Plus, you may tend to be generous, which means all shots are on you!

3 Self-Pity Sessions
This is when you start to doubt your self-worth and blame yourself for the breakup. “What did I do wrong?!” #UglyCrying

4. Unlimited Hatred
You’re mad and hurt, but don’t take it out on the people who only want to help you.

5. The Bargaining
You desperately plead him to give you another chance even though he awfully treated you. Sighs.

6. Eat Your Feelings Away
Every day is cheat day, and you eat whatever (edible thing) that comes your way.

7. Rebound Attempts
You try to date all the guys who ask you out, hoping that they can be temporary bandages to your wounded heart.
Sadly, you will feel more depressed because you'll always compare them to your ex.

8. The Great Wall of Hugot
When you get hurt, your defenses are up, and you feel negative towards anything that concerns dating and falling in love. You refuse to meet anyone new, or shut out the potential people around you.

9. Back to Square One
After days of mustering all the hate for the A**hole of the Year, you try to win him back
by texting him. Your friends even think you’re delusional for expecting a reply from him. Girl, have some dignity! Put down your phone, or better yet, throw it out the window! Just kidding, don’t do that. But seriously, you've done so much progress, don't go back to that dark place.

10. Good, Old Reminiscin'
You always talk about him because you remember the happy times you both shared. Wake up, girl because those are all history now. When you contantly mention him, you think about him often, which then makes it even harder for you to get him out of your system.

11. #BalikAlindog Project
Apart from getting your mind off the sadness, bitterness, and pain, you are determined to be the best version of yourself, so you work out and follow a clean diet.

12. Happy on the Outside, Broken on the Inside
You post photos and status messages shout that you don't need him in your life anymore. You show how you’re enjoying the single life, but when it’s nighttime and you’re alone in your room, all you want to do is curl up on your bed and cry.

13. Rise and Shine
After all the crying, wallowing in self-pity and everything in between, you snap out of it and realize that it’s not the end of the world yet. There's more to life than having a love life. Keep your chin up, girl! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
