The old saying “it is better to give than to receive” certainly rings true for Filipinos. A recent MasterCard survey on ethical spending revealed that in the entire Asia-Pacific region, Pinoys are the first to give to charity, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reports. The Philippines topped the most charitable category with a score of 68 percent, while Hong Kong came in second with 66 percent. Malaysia and Indonesia occupied the third and fourth places with 63 percent and 62 percent, respectively. Interestingly, while other countries are considerably more affluent than ours, we still emerged as the first to dig through our pockets to help the less fortunate.

Charity seems to be inherent to Pinoys, along with other notable qualities such as hospitality and facing challenges with a positive attitude. Inspire the joy of giving in your children with these five tips:
