Last Sunday, May 16, a humanoid robot officiated a wedding ceremony for a Japanese couple in Tokyo. The robot, which stands four feet tall and has large bright eyes, is called the "i-Fairy" and is usually stationed at museums or exhibitions for visitor assistance. On this particular day, however, the i-Fairy acted as registrar for the blushing bride Satoko Inoue (who works at the robot's manufacturing company) and her smiling groom Tomohiro Shibata (a former client). Only in Japan can a robot pronounce you man and wife!
