In a few days, Kim Kardashian and hubby Kanye West will be celebrating their first anniversary as a married couple. According to Us Weekly, the rapper is pulling out all the stops and word is, it’s all going down in Paris, France. However, none of this would have been possible had Kim not made the first move. Yep, you read that right. In an interview with Access Hollywood, the reality star revealed that she was the one who called Kanye up and not the other way around.

It's all about equal opportunity, ladies. Here, six reasons you should try making the first move.

It sets you apart from the other girls.
"As a man, I can tell you that we do not mind a woman approaching us," says Elite Daily writer Sean Donnelly. "A woman who approaches a man stands out, and we can determine a few things about her. Her bold, no-holds-barred approach tells us that she’s confident, spontaneous, brave, outgoing, direct and thinks outside the box."

You’re more in control of the situation.
Instead of being led, you’re the one who’s doing the leading. How empowering is that! "Personally, I like making the first move," says Sharry, 30. "It allows me to set the tone of a relationship early on."

It makes you more confident.
Approaching a guy or asking for his number can be intimidating, but the more times you do it, the more at ease you’ll be with making the first move. In fact, some women find that their newfound confidence also applies to other aspects of their life. "I speak up more at meetings now," says Erika, 28. "Talking to guys is good practice for when I have to present at work and vice-versa!"

Challenges are good for you.
We’re not saying you should make a sport out of approaching men—just that it’s not a bad idea to get out of your comfort zone once in a while. Pushing yourself to do things you otherwise might not do helps you learn more about yourself.

You’re propagating gender equality.
In your own way, you’re helping break social stereotypes, so that future generations of women won’t have to feel dyahe about approaching the guy they like first or do other things that are normally regarded as male roles.

You don't want any regrets.
Are you sure you want to stand there and watch the guy of your dreams get taken by someone else? It doesn't matter if you don't think you have a shot with him (you never know!), you have to try at least once. No regrets!
