We've just recently reported a study that has shown that the experience of being single gets better as you age. So if in your 20s, you used to sulk about flying solo on Valentine's day, in your 30s, use it as an excuse to travel and have a weekend of total RnR! (We know you need it.)
Whether you're going on a solitary trip or booking a weekend with your other single girlfriends, these destinations can offer something new and refreshing to add a kick to your weekend of (self-)love:
1. Luljetta's Hanging Gardens Spa in Antipolo
Just because you want a vacation doesn't mean you have to travel far. Located in Loreland Farm Resort's eight-hectare propertly is Luljetta’s Place Garden Suites, the perfect escape if your idea of me-time is a spa treatment and a pool sesh.
Perfect if: You're stressed from work and need to unwind and detox for a weekend.
2. Easter Home at Baguio
Aside from going on a Baguio food trip, you can also opt to spend the entire weekend in at Easter Home and even sign up for a private yoga class with their in-house instructor. (One class is P250/head, minimum of two students.)
They also offer a coffee corner, a bonfire setup for guests, and paella nights aside from their cozy rooms. The Airbnb has free wifi so you can work remotely if you have to. Rates for the Easter Pad start at P1,500 per night.
Perfect if: You need to be surrounded by a lot of trees and a cool breeze. Make it a whole weekend of wellness and self-reflection if you must.
3. Single & Unattached 2019 in La Union
Feeling extra sociable? Or just really eager to disappear into a crowd? Head on over to La Union for the seventh consecutive year of Single & Unattached, the surftown's annual Valentine's day invitational competition that also features a series of events like a kick-off party, a surf art exhibit, and since it coincides with Ecology Week, talks on environmental awareness and climate change.
Perfect if: You're single but game to party.
FN TIP: If you want to avoid driving and would love to maximize your weekend, take the bus that leaves at night and be ready for a surf sesh by Saturday morning.
4. Siama Hotel in Sorsogon
If you're looking for a cozy but luxe experience in an isolated destination, make your way to Siama Hotel in Sorgogon. Inspired by the nipa hut, the hotel is well-ventilated, has a lot of natural light, and will truly make you feel like you're in an oasis away from the city (and your 9-5).
It's only 15 minutes away from Sorsogon's city proper, so you can easily explore other gems this destination has to offer. Prepare to shell out about P7,500 for a room (but you can also book on travel websites like Agoda or Booking.com to get discounts).
Perfect if: You love nature but aren't too big on extreme sports.
5. Soloviento, Lake Caliraya
For P1,200, you can try the Stand Up Paddle Board Intro course, as the still lake is one of the best places to learn.
Entrance is at P180 for a day trip. You may opt to camp overnight in a tent, or sleep in a fan-cooled room. Check out their rates here.
Perfect if: You're looking to pick up a new hobby!
