Technology touches every aspect of our lives today—from our meals, with microwaved dishes and meals ordered online, to our families and friends, who we keep track of through Facebook, everything has gone digital. Now fine art seems to be following the trend as well, as these five digital artists show: Lorra Elena Angbue-Te, Joven DeLaCruz, Maricar Dizon, Clarissa Gonzalez, and Noelle Hilario have teamed up to put up The Digital Genius Exhibit, the first group portfolio show hosted by Gallery 7 in Eastwood Mall.
The Digital Genius Exhibit opened on Sunday, April 18, in an event that had the four female artists showing off their talents with tablets in an on-the-spot digital art exhibit showdown. The show, which highlights six of each artist’s best works, will run until May 7, giving interested viewers enough time to appreciate this technological paradigm shift that elevates digital scribblings to a new level of expression.
Working to bring this new medium to the public’s awareness, Gallery 7 is the country’s only studio that caters to digital art and design. This year the establishment has partnered with graphic designer Alessandra Libongco to organize various exhibits that showcase and promote the talents of Filipino graphic artists and designers.
