Our grandparents should automatically qualify as some of the coolest people in the world: they’ve gone through so much in life, and they have the wisdom to back up their many experiences. These five ladies and gentlemen, though, deserve extra recognition for being extra cool for their age. Don’t get us wrong--we love our own lolos and lolas, but calling one of them as our own would be so amazing, wouldn’t you agree?

1. MR. FORTHRIGHT

Mr. Forthright’s a funny fountain of age-old wisdom. Whether you need help on quitting smoking or for throwing a wedding on a tight budget, you can count on this gentleman for some not-so-practical advice for every situation. Check out this video for his tips on looking like you’re working extra hard in the office, and hop over to his YouTube channel for more!

2. MARY HVIZDA
Mary Hvizda may not have grandchildren, but she still deserves a spot on this list because it’s not every day that you get to hear of a grandma-aged lady who visits the local drum shop just to jam. This 63-year-old lady has been playing the instrument since she was 15, and she would satisfy her musical urges by going at the drums when the mood hits her. See her awesome skills in the video below.

3. GRANDMA TRACY
Grandma Tracy’s still got some moves—and we’re not talking about those fancy ballroom dances other ladies her age prefer. This grand dame totally stole the show during a New York block party in 2010 when she gave an impromptu performance right on the pier. With only a ponytail, a fanny pack, and some really slick grooves, she totally gave all the other kids out there a run for their breakdancing money!

4. ZHU SHUMEI
Every day, Zhu Shumei would go through a rigorous fitness routine that involves running laps, playing basketball, and strength training. What sets her apart, though, is the fact that this five-feet-tall, hunchbacked lady is already 76 years old. See her in action below, and discover her touching story here.

5. HARVEY AND EDDIE
There’s nothing like a true friend who’ll stick with you through the years, as NBC reporter Ben Aaron discovered when he spent an afternoon in New Jersey with Harvey and Eddie, two 85-year-old men who have remained BFFs through the years. Listen to this duo share a few insights on today’s ever-changing culture below.
