AddictedToTech_inside.jpgPeople immersed in the digital lifestyle are likely to have hi-tech nightmares too. In a recent study conducted by consumer research firm Intersperience, respondents described losing access to the Internet or giving up their phones as their “biggest nightmare,” having become emotionally attached to technology and its trappings.

The study, which measured people’s digital dependency, asked participants about spending a day without digital technology. According to the findings, 40 percent of the participants said they felt lonely when they were cut off from activities like texting, checking their social networking sites, or watching their favorite TV shows. Some even said the idea of being disconnected was unthinkable.

Studies like this show a generation for whom surfing the Web, tweeting, or exchanging BBMs are more than just a pastime for users. These digital tools are also how they form and sustain relationships, and manage their lives.

If you were challenged with a 24-hour technology ban, would you be in the group begging for their phones within 60 minutes or will you be able to spend a tech-free day comfortably? Take this quiz and find out how addicted to technology you are.
