There isn't a child (or, it seems, an adult) nowadays who doesn't know who Elmo is. This lovable red-furred puppet has been a kiddie companion for decades. Although he first came onto the show in the 1970s, it wasn't until 1984, when Kevin Clash took over the character, that this furry red monster really exploded into popularity. Though if this guy blows your mind, here's something to chew on: Frank Oz, the puppeteer for Miss Piggy is also famous for voicing Yoda in Star Wars.
