Whether you’re spending the long weekend with your friends, your family, or your significant other, it’s important to prioritize your safety and security while enjoying the whole trip. Here are nine things that you should keep in mind whenever you’re out of the city.
Keep a spare key handy.
Pack a duplicate key in a different bag, so that in case you accidentally lock yourself out of the car, you don’t have to wait for the reinforcements before heading on to your destination.
Don’t forget pillows and blankets.
The weather can change many times in a day–it can be hot in the afternoon and cold at night. It pays it be prepared so bring along comfy pillows and warm blankies.
Pack plenty of snacks. 
You’ll never know when or where the next gas station will be–make sure you bring snacks that are easy to eat and won’t create a mess inside the car. Plus, it’s important to bring enough water to keep yourself hydrated.
Bring travel games.
Are you and your man anticipating heavy traffic? Bring games like UNO to ward off the boredom–it’s fun and a good way to bond with each other!
Have an emergency kit ready.
This could include comfy shoes, snacks, a flashlight, a flare gun (if you have one), and a first-aid kit.
Bring a map.
Although you can always rely on your smart phone and LTE, there are some spots out-of-town that have no signal at all. Keep a map in your car in case you get lost or lose connection.
Wear comfortable clothes.
Whether you’re driving or cramped in the back along with your friends or family members, it’s better to wear loose-fitting clothes so that you can move around with ease. Can you imagine wearing super skinny jeans during an eight-hour road trip?!
Bring a portable charger
…or what they now call a power bank. Just remember to charge it the night before your trip.
Bring wet wipes and other paper products.
These are essential supplies that should be in your car whether you’re on a road trip or not. Some gas stations don’t have toilet paper (let alone water), so it’s better to be safe than sorry.
