Almost everyone we know is on Facebook, and unfortunately, that means being subjected to more than a few annoying social media posts once in a while. We did a little digging and found five especially insufferable posts online! Got a few pet peeves of your own? Share them with us!
1. Text speak
There’s a reason why GIRLTalk prohibits text speak: it’s annoying! Not only is it a complete eyesore, it’s a terrible way to use a language. GIRLTalker M!ssy says that she has even deleted a few classmates because of it. Imagine scrolling down to see: “i rili nid 2 rest, sakit fit & legs q.” Cute? Not!
2. Parinig
Regular passive aggressiveness can be infuriating, but it becomes even more so when broadcast on Facebook. Personal scores should be settled privately, not in full view of mutual friends (or sometimes, family members). Besides, it’s immature, says GIRLTalker abbey. Not that we really care about who’s feuding with who, but we’d rather not contract bad vibes so early in the morning.
3. Cryptic posts
According to The Huffington Post, people who leave such posts are typically seeking attention. They may want their Facebook friends to ask them about it or seem like a mysterious celebrity with curious fans. “The fun part of these is watching the inevitable comments and then watching how the author responds to them, if at all.”
4. Yabang posts
We get the urge to show off a little, but bragging about every little thing can get on anybody’s nerves. It’s okay to tell the world how excited you are about an upcoming trip or a new purchase (we’re all entitled to a few bragging rights), but as GIRLTalker hisana says, just don’t do it too often! On that note, it’s not cool to be humblebrags either. Grantland has a hilarious list of famous humblebrags (see https://twitter.com/TotesMcGotes for the win).
5. General spammers
Don’t get us wrong. We find it adorable that you’re entering your kid in a contest and we wouldn’t mind voting him or her, but flooding the newsfeed is another matter altogether. What’s even worse is commenting on our posts with another general “vote for my kid” spam.
