We all grew up idolizing the superheroes and heroines we read in comic books or watched in television or the movies. These characters were strong, fearless, and had powers that made bad guys tremble. Some people will even say that their favorite comic book characters influenced them as much as a teacher or their parents.
Comic books or, locally, komiks have been a part of our culture and history for as long as most of us can remember. It is in this printed medium where popular characters like Wonder Woman, Darna, Spider-Man, and Lastikman first came to life and shared their adventures with us. With the advent of television and movies, the once still images of Wonder Woman, Darna, Storm, Jean Grey, and these other “sheroes” began to move and fight and triumph over evil, to the delight of an even larger audience.
