While there are many who will welcome the Year of the Monkey with a bang, there are those of us who are planning to spend the long weekend cozying it up in our homes and enjoying our well-deserved rest. Rubbing against cool sheets after waking up late is reason enough to stay home, but if you still need convincing, here a list of justifications that we indoor-sy people have for hermit-ing the holidays out.

1. You can get all comfy in your pambahay.
No need to dress up or put on make up! The older the shirt, the comfier!

2. You can spend time with your loved ones.
Being busy with work has probably given you less time with your family. Catch up with them over meals and enjoy the throwback stories – even if you’ve already heard them countless of times.

3. You can practice cooking.
Remember that recipe you've been wanting to try? The long weekend is a great time to bring out your inner master chef!

4. You can give yourself a long, luxurious shower.
Nothing says relaxation like enjoying a warm bath and actually having the time to condition your hair.

5. You can get back to reading.
You’ve been on the same chapter for the past few months. Now, you can finally get on with it.

6. You can indulge in TV time.
There’s definitely a lot of new things on TV this February. Diva will be premiering “Clean House with Tempest Bledsoe” on February 7, just in time to get you inspired for some Chinese New Year clean-up. You can also look forward to the marathon of “How Do I Look Asia” for fashion tips on February 9. And who can forget the biggest music event of the year? E! will be premiering the 2016 Grammy Awards on February 16, so don’t forget to mark your calendars!

7. You can check out what’s new on iFlix.
It's the perfect time to veg out! iFlix has new movies available, including timeless faves such as Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting, The English Patient, Life is Beautiful, The Hours, and Finding Neverland. Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2 are also up, in case you’re in the mood for some over-the-top action and gore. If you haven’t signed up yet, you can go to www.iFlix.com.

8. You can have peace and quiet with your significant other.
Quality time is the best time there is. Lambing your partner by staying longer in bed with him for some much-deserved snuggles.

9. You can avoid Metro Manila traffic.
Escape the punishment that is commuting! Who wouldn’t choose chilling at home over getting cramps in a shuttle that has barely moved an inch along EDSA in the past hour?

10. You can save money.
Throwing in a bag of popcorn in the microwave oven and enjoying a movie is way cheaper than lining up at the theater.

11. You can sleep.
’Nuff said.
