We don't know when it started (perhaps when the word ''selfie" was first coined?), but the pressure for moms to get back to their pre-pregnant body seems higher than ever. Unfortunately, the reality is not all women get back to their pre-pregnancy weight in mere weeks or months. Some take years of hard work before they could even fit into their pre-pregnant clothes. It does not help that celebrity moms are seen looking like they were never pregnant weeks after giving birth. That's why Peta Murgatroyd of Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) is recently getting so much praise on social media.

Last January 4, the pro dancer gave birth to her first child, a son whom she and fellow DWTS dancer pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy named Shai Aleksander. She took to Instagram to share a photo of her eight days after giving birth. She wrote: "I left the hospital looking five months pregnant. Many people think a woman should shrink right back to her pre-birth weight immediately. That is just not the truth for most."

Peta continued, "The female body is incredible and resilient, but healing and strengthening take time. Now it's time for patience and hard work. Lots of love to all the new mamas out there on the journey." She ended her post with a hashtag that read, "Shai is worth every pound."

Her post was flooded with comments thanking and commending Peta for her honesty. "So beautiful! Thank you for being real and sharing," read one comment. Another person commented, "You made a baby. You are a superwoman! Sure, aim to lose weight to be healthy but love your body no matter what the scale says."

Pregnant women should never feel the pressure to lose weight fast. And they should exercise caution in aspiring to lose the weight as fast as celeb moms seem to do. In September last year, five months after she gave birth to her daughter, Luna, Chrissy Teigen, gave an honest revelation about how she bounced back to her pre-pregnant shape. "We have nutritionists, we have dietitians, we have trainers, we have our own schedules, we have nannies. We have people who make it possible for us to get back into shape. But nobody should feel like that’s normal, or like that’s realistic," Teigen told Today.

"Anyone in the public eye, we have all the help we could ever need to be able to shed everything," the Lip Sync Battle host said. "So I think people get this jaded sensation that everybody’s losing it so quickly, but we just happen to be the ones who are out there."
