Lovers are not exempted from COVID-19 protocols when they are extra touchy outside their homes. It applies to all as authorities move to arrest a spike in infections, police said.
With efforts to reinforce physical distancing and mask-wearing, the Philippine National Police on Wednesday reminded couples to still observe minimum health standards in public places.
Will couples engaging in public display of affection or PDA face penalties? They will only be reprimanded like other violators of minimum health standards, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ildebrandi Usana said Wednesday.
"Maninita po kami sa lahat ng violator. Wala po kaming PDA exclusive patrollers," Usana said in a text message to reportr.
The reminder comes as more people are allowed to go out for leisure activities such as dining in restaurants, and tourism activities.
"Ang mga mamamayan po kasi nakalimot na rin po talaga. Kahit po sana ang mag-asawa i-observe pa rin nila yung minimum health and safety protocols in public. Mahirap po talaga ang hawaan ng virus," Usana added.
Earlier this week, even President Rodrigo Duterte reminded Filipinos to wear their face masks properly and to observe physical distancing as the country had been reporting over 3,000 new COVID-19 cases daily for the past few days.
The surge in new cases also prompted the Department of Health to remind the public to keep their guards up and consider wearing a double mask.
