Meet Bonsai, a rescued English bulldog who has gone through a lot in order to survive. He was born with multiple deformities–he only had half of a spine, plus a missing pelvis, which prevented him from sitting, standing, and walking. When he was just three and a half weeks old, his original owners reached out to rescue organization Friends of Emma for help. His rescuers then decided to amputate his leg to relieve him of the pain, but it didn’t stop the cute pup from being playful and adorable.

According to Redbook, the operation was successful and he’s now going through an intensive round of muscle therapy and rehabilitation. Watch him below and see just how adorable he is!
