Caring for animals can be considered as one of the noblest careers a man can undertake. It’s the epitome of selfless, unconditional love, since animals do not know the concept of reason. Tending to animals that have gone through traumatic experiences is also a lot more challenging, as it requires extra patience, understanding, and love.

Taking care of the Laguna Pit Bulls, however, requires a completely different degree of TLC. The pit bulls were rescued in March 2012 from a Korean dogfighting syndicate based in San Pablo, Laguna, and out of the 300 dogs that were found, only 168 are now left, as a large number passed away due to various diseases while on their road to rehabilitation.

Female Network was able to chat with Laguna Pit Bull volunteers Owen Santos and Shiella Lloren about their experiences with the dogs, and the stories they told were truly inspiring. Read on to know more about what being a volunteer means, as well as information on how you can be one yourself.
