A month before my boyfriend's flight to the US, he bought me a puppy. He said that this would keep me busy while he is away, and that every time I would miss him, I'd have a little puppy to cuddle with. I used to be scared of dogs, even small dogs. But it all changed when Zooey came.
My puppy always wants to be with me. Even when I would put her on her cage, she would just sit down quietly and stare at me. Her gaze would follow in every direction that I would go to. And whenever I would allow her to play in my room, she would run around back and forth and play with my teddies. Then, when she's already tired, she would bark at me as if she's telling me that she's done playing. I would put her on my lap, and after a little while, she'd already be asleep.
When Zooey sees that I am sleeping, she would sleep as well and would not bother me. Every time I would leave the house, she would make funny sounds as if she's telling me that she wants to come with me. And it really is hard to leave, especially when when she'd look at me with her cute puppy dog eyes. And when I am already home, she would run to me and lick my hands and my face. When I would put her down, she would stand and reach for me, and she wouldn't quit doing that until I carry her again. When I'm eating, she always sits next to me and would just sit there until I'm done eating. But when all seats are taken, and I couldn't have her beside me during dinner, she would just stay in her cage and my mom would laugh because she would see Zooey watching me while I eat. I sometimes wonder what she's thinking about when she's staring me. But I find it sweet and cute; it's like when a person adores you very much--they just tend to stare at you and be amazed by you.
My puppy loves to hide. When she hears me calling her while she's playing, she would hide under the bed, under the tables and chairs. And when I've found her, she would run and look for another place to hide. Then when she senses that I am no longer looking for her, she would come out and come to me and would wait until I get her. She loves it when I scratch her tummy and rub her head. She gets a little cranky when I would comb her hair though. There are times she would even bite the comb and run off with it. Then she would just bark endlessly while staring at the comb as if she's scolding it. She's so cute!
Zooey really means a lot to me, and I know that she loves me as well. Just seeing her get so hyper when she sees me, just knowing that there's someone or something waiting for me to come home every time I leave just gives me the joy that I need in times of stressful circumstances. I am so happy and blessed to have a wonderful, sweet companion who loves me and I know would never leave me.
