Oreo is a lively and playful dog. We got him when he was barely 2 months old. I've been longing to take care of a cute, cuddly pet and so I searched the internet for breeder's who sell cute shih tzus. We tried several times to get in touch with numerous breeders, but we always end up with nothing due to the high demand of shih tzus. Until one day, as I was searching again, there I found a seller on the internet, who did not even provide any photo of the puppy she was selling. Even so, I still got in touch with the seller at that very moment. There's something inside me that somehow told me that there I will find my baby.
As soon as I got the seller's address, I did not waste time and headed straight to the place. When I got there, 5 puppies were available for sale. I couldn't decide at that instant because they were all cute. Intuitively, I looked closely at one puppy in particular because he was so quiet at one corner while all the others were playing. He instantly caught my attention and after holding him in my arms, I decided that he would be the one I was going to take home.
Several days passed and our baby didn't have a name yet. One day, as I was munching on Oreo cookies, I noticed that my baby's fur was a combination of alternating white and brown hues. So I realized I could name him Oreo.
Raising Oreo wasn't that easy. As it's my first time to take care of my very own pet, and I must admit I had some slight fears. So I tended to get flustered when he tried to play with me, or when he tried to bite my feet even though he didn't have his teeth yet. It was also difficult to leave him when my husband and I went to work. He would cry out loud for God knows how long.
After a few months, he got used to being left alone in the house. He would cry at the sight of us leaving. But after a few minutes he would stop crying and would just sleep and play all day. I also became closer to him. I have learned how to stop him from biting and playing with my feet. Whenever he tries, I would just say pssst and he will instantly stop. Oreo is a very smart dog. He learned where to poop and pee easily. He knows when something is not allowed to be played on, he never chews on our carpets, furniture, electric cables, slippers or shoes. He also knows some tricks like getting his leash and giving it to us when he wants to go out. He can stand on his hind legs for several seconds.
Oreo is very active and playful. He always likes to play with small kids, maybe he thinks he's a child, too. When he sees children running and playing in the neighborhood, he always wants to join them. He just always loves to be around people. He is also fond of jogging. He goes jogging with me every morning, and when he runs, he runs like a horse. He looks very confident and focused and never gets tired easily. He also loves to play with his tennis ball.
Oreo gets tired and sleepy too, and when he is, he's like a baby. He will lie down the floor and stretch his arms, asking me to carry him upstairs to our room. And when he sleeps, he snores. He has dreams too because sometimes he barks in his sleep. He also loves to kiss us and cuddle with us.
Oreo is indeed a happy, active, smart, playful, and sweet dog. That's why we love him so much.
