Gigi adopted us 2.5 years ago, when she just showed up on our doorstep. She was almost a newborn then so we don't really know how she found us. Neither my husband or I were cat persons, and the only being in our household interested in the very scruffy kitten on our doormat was our Belgian Malinois mix, Princess. For all her attempts at friendship, however, all she got were vicious slaps on the nose.
Still, I couldn't bear to let her starve, so I started leaving out food and water for her. As she grew bigger, she grew more personable, and one day, she just decided she wanted to live inside the house too. We eventually fell in love with her, and even brought another cat into our household because of her.
Gigi is affectionate one day and extremely surly the next--one of the reasons why I've grown to love her. She's so like me! That, plus the fact that she's the kikay-est cat on the face of the earth.
