As the city of Manila transitions from its old-world charm to a mishmash of “modern” sensibilities, it slowly loses the captivating nostalgia it has become known for throughout the decades. Thankfully, there are people in the area who still appreciate the culture and history behind the city. A visit to this post-World War II apartment shows that there is no better way to value Manila than to actually live there.

The unit, in its former incarnation, was serious, somber, and moody, with dark wood detailing and muted hues. Dramatic renovations transformed it into a sunny, cheerful space bedecked in citrus hues and distinctively Asian accessories.
